Another cool sony franchise with some character and individuality was turned into another over serious, open world, story-prioritized, unnecessarily RPG-heavy, exploration/collectathon borefest. Sony fans don’t like to hear it, but Sony’s first party stuff output is becoming so damn samey across the board, and to me this game/franchise was another casualty in that. The presentation and gameplay were just insane. God of War 3 was the perfect God of War game. It didn’t need anything more than it had for me. God of War was arcadey, hack and slash goodness with a badass, pissed off character to boot. I always thought people who said “Kratos has no depth as a character” were just playing the wrong game. I also have a lot of open-world fatigue and I’m kind of sick of seeing so many games implement one for little to no reason. I didn’t like it, I got bored really fast and didn’t end up finishing it.
